I Spent a Week in Dominica at The Most Edible Resort on Earth | Filming Nature

I spent a week on Dominica, the Nature Island of the Caribbean, and stayed at Jungle Bay Dominica, a resort they call the most edible in the Caribbean. This is the kind of place I started this channel to find. This is the Most Beautiful Country You’ve NEVER Heard Of... (Dominica)

One of the things I loved most about filming in Dominica was how much natural beauty there was everywhere I pointed my camera. The island is covered in tropical rainforests, mountains, waterfalls, and some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever had the opportunity to film.

Filming at Jungle Bay Dominica

During my stay, I had the opportunity to film at Jungle Bay, a nature-focused resort overlooking the Caribbean Sea near Soufrière.

What interested me most about Jungle Bay wasn't just the beautiful views. It was how much of the resort was connected to the surrounding environment.

There are tropical fruits, herbs, vegetables, and medicinal plants growing throughout the property. And instead of simply looking at the gardens, guests can learn about the plants, taste some of the fruits, and discover how they're used in traditional Dominican culture.

As a filmmaker, that gave me so much more to work with than just filming beautiful buildings and scenery. There were people to meet, activities to document, and stories happening all around me.

I also appreciated how easy Jungle Bay was to work with during my visit. Having a destination that's welcoming and supportive of the filming process makes a big difference, especially when you're trying to capture experiences as they happen naturally.

There's So Much More to Film in Dominica

Although Jungle Bay was where I stayed, I also had the opportunity to experience other parts of the island.

Places like Emerald Pool, Titou Gorge, Trafalgar Falls, and the views overlooking the Caribbean Sea made Dominica an incredible place to bring my cameras.

One of the things I enjoyed most was the variety. I could be filming inside a tropical rainforest one moment and looking out over the ocean the next.

And the vegetation! There are so many different plants, trees, and fruits growing throughout the island. It's easy to understand why Dominica is called the Nature Island.

What Viewers Thought About Dominica

One of the most rewarding parts of releasing this film has been reading the comments.

I've heard from people who grew up in Dominica and now live in places like New York, New Jersey, California, and other parts of the world. Many thanked me for showing their homeland, while others shared memories of places they recognized in the film.

I've also heard from people who had never considered visiting Dominica before watching. Some have added it to their travel lists, and others have asked how to get there.

That's been especially exciting because one of the reasons I started StoryDrivenNature was to introduce people to beautiful natural places they might not have known about.

Would You Like to Explore Dominica With Me?

After spending a week in Dominica, I can honestly say there is so much more of this beautiful island I would love to experience.

I'm currently planning my first nature retreat, and one of the things I'm excited about is the possibility of sharing experiences like this with people who enjoy watching my films.

I'm still working out the details, but you can join my retreat waiting list to be among the first to hear about upcoming destinations, dates, and opportunities to travel together.

I hope to see you there!
